How to check calories from a photo: 5 steps before saving
AI photo analysis is the starting point for recording. Before saving, it is useful to check what the photo does not show.
1. Check the composition
See if the products are named correctly. Soup, porridge and casserole may look similar, but have different compositions. Remove the extra ingredient and correct the mistakenly recognized one.
2. Consider additives
Butter, sauce, sugar and toppings are not always visible in the photo. If you know they were in the dish, record them. Don't take the absence of an additive as a result of AI as proof that it doesn't exist.
3. Check the portion weight
The apparent size of the plate does not determine the grams. If the portion is weighed, indicate the known weight. If not, save the estimate with an understanding of its uncertainty.
4. Check drinks and individual products
Drink or bread may be out of frame. Add them separately through the search if you want the entry to reflect the entire meal.
5. Look at the total before saving
After corrections, check the composition, portion and selected meal. In Dayana Daily, the entry goes into the diary and updates the results of the day. For a product with a label, use known values and your serving size as a guide.
Example: salad in the photo
AI can see vegetables but miss dressing. The check here is to check the ingredients and actual servings, rather than mistaking a pretty number for an accurate measurement. Photography does not have universal accuracy “for any dish.”
